Located less than a mile from Gaza, Sderot has been the target of rocket fire for two decades. The result: a community collectively overwhelmed and distressed by a daily danger that won’t go away. Focusing on alleviating long-term perils, we have designed and are implementing a series of projects – each tackling a city-wide need that cannot wait to be resolved.
Resilience Complex
Current municipal services are unable to meet the demands of a community in trauma. With the conflict entering its third decade, the Sderot municipality recently allotted land and an initial budget to design and build a new and modern Resilience Complex.
Assisting Families in Need
In Sderot’s poorest neighborhoods many families are short of life’s necessities. Beyond the persistent Gaza-border conflict, these semi-skilled first-generation Israelis are on welfare and earning less than the average wages – as they try to navigate toward self-reliance and find an entry-point through which to join the start-up nation as full-fledged members.
Hadar Special Needs School
A child with special needs may have problems with schoolwork, communication or behavior. They might also have sensory or physical needs. For such children to develop physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially, they must receive professional care as early in life as possible.
