In Sderot’s poorest neighborhoods many families are short of life’s necessities. Beyond the persistent Gaza-border conflict, these semi-skilled first-generation Israelis are on welfare and earning less than the average wages – as they try to navigate toward self-reliance and find an entry-point through which to join the start-up nation as full-fledged members.

To assist these mainly young families, the Sderot Foundation developed two programs that ease major concerns: we deliver food baskets brimming with basic food staples and gift expectant mothers with baby packages that contain critical items needed to support a newborn’s healthy growth and development in the first stages of life. Both programs work wonders to reduce the physical, financial, and emotional consequences of not being able to make ends meet.

In the coming year we aim to deliver 350 food baskets at a cost of $100 per basket, and an equal number of baby packages at a cost of $1,500 per package.
