Located less than a mile from Gaza, Sderot has been the target of rocket fire for two decades. The result: life is too often on hold. To combat long-term emotional perils and acting on the city’s resolve to prevail, we have designed and are now implementing a series of projects that directly tackle city-wide needs that cannot wait to be resolved.
Medical Center
Sderot is not short of emergencies; it is, however, alarmingly short of emergency wards. Victims of rocket fire are frequently evacuated to hospitals in other cities, sometimes dangerously postponing life-saving surgery.
SdeRock Youth Club
For over 20 years the SdeRock Youth Club has been a safe space and therapeutic center for Sderot’s at-risk youth who need to flee not only rockets but unfortunate family circumstances. Offering a mix of musical and social programming, it is where they come to learn to play an instrument, compose and produce music, and to heal.
Warm Home Complex
Hundreds of children in Sderot come from families facing economic hardship and absorption challenges. For the past 20 years the municipality has operated five after-school facilities where children aged 6-12 spend their afternoons. The children are served a hot meal and helped with their homework.
