Located less than a mile from Gaza, Sderot has been the target of rocket fire for two decades. The result: daily struggle for sheer survival has put everything else on a back burner. Most affected are young adults for whom dodging rockets has taken precedence to education and training. At the Sderot Foundation we proactively help this generation prepare for employment in 21st century Israel.
QA Training
A recent collaboration between Sderot Municipality and the software testing company Qualitest has resulted in the launch of QA training courses for unemployed young adults in this city. Qualitest plans to open a new site here in Sderot, and will soon need to fill a whole host of positions.
Employment for New Immigrants
First and second generation young adults from immigrant communities have been unable to break free from the cycle of under-achievement and under-employment dictated by life on the Gaza border. To overcome this barrier, we launched a series of tailor-made programs that help these young men and women complete their high-school education and acquire a profession.
Employment for Single Parents
Being a single parent usually means you are underserved and struggling to find balance and self-fulfillment. For the average single parent in Sderot, monthly expenses exceed income.
