Together, We’re Rebuilding Sderot’s Future
Make a lasting impact before 2024 endsHadar Special Needs School
A child with special needs may have problems with schoolwork, communication or behavior. They might also have sensory or physical needs. For such children to develop physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially, they must receive professional care as early in life as possible.
The Hadar School in Sderot offers specialized care for children with special needs who live along the Gaza border. Facilities include safe classrooms, a specially built outdoor activity area, a multi-sensory suite for exploring new sensory experiences, and a horticulture facility. The aim: to equip them for life.
But the school is dilapidated and the equipment is outdated. Moreover, it has been deemed important to continue educating these children into early adulthood, which means the school must prepare to care for older students.
Consequently, a new state-of-the-art facility has been designed, one that will allow more children to attend the school, and fewer children to fall between the cracks.
The new complex will include a therapy wing, a wing for teenagers and one for young adults. It will boast an expanded multi-sensory room, an apartment simulator, a virtual reality room, a science and robotics lab, and a multi-sensory library. It will prepare twice as many children for integration into the community. The new school is now being built, and we are raising the necessary funds to complete it.
